Abstract: One way to discover from a large amount of data certain deviations from the usual values is to examine in depth the irregularities of all the data, not just extracting representative samples and drawing conclusions on the whole population. Thanks to data mining techniques and the use of computers in a relatively fast and efficient way, we examine the entire population of data. An important place in the use of data mining techniques is certainly the application of Benford's law. Benford's law is the logarithmic law of the distribution of the first significant digits of numbers. The mathematical model was formulated, using relative frequencies, by the American physicist Frank Benford, and named it the model "Benford's Law". Taking into account the expected frequency of occurrence of individual figures in a number, applying Benford-based testing, we will analyze the accounting data, that is, the invoice values of the Tuzla Canton Health Insurance Institute (ZZO TK), and on the basis of the results obtained, determine which drugs have the more frequent frequencies. This would indicate the possibility of reviewing the unit price of such medicines and lowering them in order to optimize them.
